Now I’ve been known to both overtly and covertly objectify nurse and their time homered and essential place and societal importance within the midical-industrial complex in modern times. As they say honesty is the best policy so I’m going to outright admit that do to a severe pornography and explicit matter addiction which caused me to not only objectify nurses but all persons of members of the opposite sex(gender) on the whole I was part of the guilt gender in specific the male or masculine side of the ” gender divide”. It used to be due to women being type cast into societal roles like nursing, child rearing and as educators(teacher) and I still hear this appalling and externally bigoted view point of women being type cast as more nurturing.
The fact is even though women have assented threw the ranks of medicine to holding positions such as MDs of all specialties and and even threw managerial ranks out side of professions like teaching and nursing. We still have what in my view are really bigoted and sexist misrepresentations the a women’s true societal value. These disconnects come from industries like sales and marketing, film and popular culture as well as to this very day the vast y of nurses of all licensing levels are women. The misrepresentations and over sexualization of certain professions that have traditionally been filled in large majority by women. What I strongly disagree with is the old and worn-out societal belief that ” matters of the homo and hearth” are a women’s place.
The most verilent example of this misrepresentation of the nursing profession is in the motivation picture “One Flew over The Cuckoos nest” in which actor Jack Nicholson plays a mental patient named RP Morphy and Louise Fletcher plays nurse Mildred Ratched. Which has earned really strict nurses the in my view really dishonorable title of Ratchet While in the modern day a wast majority of nurses of any level of either scope of practice or experience are still females we’ve also started to see more men enter the profession because it’s at times a quite psychically demanding profession because your lifting both equipment and maneuvering patients.
Several cartoons from the anime which is a Japanese for of cartoon animation that was originally derived from manga which is a form of comic book that’s typically read from left-to-right. But to to their increasing popularity among western readers was flipper from it’s original form to the typical right-tp-left western page orientation however, many international publishers prefer to keep to the original left-to-right page orientation. This a whole post originated from an observation that my mother made while she, my father and I where having drinks at the bar in our hotel.
Said hotel is also playing host to an annual fanfiction event aimed at fans of the popular Trans-Formers anime cartoon and movie series. While down in the bar my mom noticed I young women who was dressed as Manerva a nurse from aforementioned manga, cartoon and movie franchises. Funny as side Minerva is the Who’s the equivalent of the Greek goddess of Wisdom,Medicine, commerce, crafts and strategic warfare. I think that the fact that the creators of the Transformers franchises thinking to name a cheater that represents a Nurse Minerva is very fitting because if you think about it nurses do play an integral role in health care in all scopes of practice in which they participate in.
Being a constant student of history I’d like to point out that had it not ben for pioneers like Florence Nightingale (Lady with the lamp, born 5/12/1820 died 8/13/1910 (age at death 90 years old)} and her American protege part Clara Barton (1821 – 1912 (died at 81 years old)). In my view the modem film and television industry’s over simplification of the profession of nursing does a terrible dis-justice to nurses of historical significance like Nurse Nightingale (for whom the nightingale Pledge) the pledge that every graduate nurse has to swear to uphold and Clara Baron her later American protege and counterpart and for that case every nurse at any point sense have in my my solidified the ever important roles that nurses both hold in health care along side doctors but also as front lines innovators and inventors should at no time or point be discounted to any degree.
As a recovering pornography and explicit matter addict I really disagree strongly to what the adult film and media industry has done in screens in which both mental and physical health practitioners of either gender but especially of the feminine gender does all of society as a whole a gigantic disservice.
